Green Sustainable Living - Fashion Loving Chickens Showing Their Support As They Model Unique One-Of-a-Kind Creations

The Runway Chicks, My Cute Pet (Fashion)Chickens

Update: My fashionista friend, Carrie, spent hours designing and sewing by hand (just a needle and thread) each of these unique fashions, and my pet chickens were the models. She doesn't raise chickens or know a lot about them, but for some reason, became intrigued with the idea of dressing them . . . afterwards, she told me how relaxing and fun it was for her, so she plans to add an outfit about each month. She calls 'em "The Runway Chicks", and has a website about them and their fashions.

Breeds of Chicken Models

The Breeds of my chickens that modelled include a:

Barred Plymouth Rock Hen, named Suzi . . .

Suzi (the school girl) is about a year old. She lays brown eggs and is a special pet. I got her from the feed store. She fits the "rebellious" label, 'cause she gets out pretty often - doesn't go far, just seems to not like being fenced in. She's a real sweetheart.

Silver Spangled Hamburg hen . . .

Henni (Ms. Claus) - She's about four years old, I got her as part of an assortment from Cackle Hatchery. The eggs she lays are tiny, and white. She's kinda fiesty, but very gentle, and she likes to fly up on my shoulders.

Rhode Island Red . . .

Hattie - this little sweetheart follows me everywhere, like a puppy. I got her from the feed store about three years ago. She's a good layer and a precious pet.

Brown Red Old English hen . . .

Pam ( I call her "Prom Girl" now) - She enjoys being held and petted, but also likes to fly off . . . not far, though. She's very tame, I got her in an assortment from Country Hatchery of Oklahoma about a year ago.

Ginger Red Americauna rooster . . .

Brutus, he really is a teddy bear, loves to be picked up and hugged. I'd better keep an eye on him, though, a friend said "he'd look great next to the potatoes and gravy". I got him from Cackle Hatchery 'bout six years ago.

Brown Red Old English hen . . .

Bonny, the wanna-be Bride; she's shy and gentle, and about a year old now. She is really sweet, and is a good layer.

Birchen Old English rooster . . .

George came from Country Hatchery, too. He's very gentle and likes to be held. I like his "leather" western style jacket, pretty creative.

Brown Red Old English rooster . . .

Sheriff Bob is "confident", not mean, or aggressive, but he does have an air about him. He's very tame, though. Loves to be held and petted. He's about a year old, and likes to fly up on my shoulder whenever he gets the opportunity. The "Sheriff" tag fits, because he is watchful and attentive.

Buff Brahma hen . . .

Patty is about six years old, she's from Cackle Hatchery, too. She was attacked after modelling - but she's doing fine now. At first I thought a raccoon had grabbed her, now I've since noticed a red tailed hawk flying low around my place. She's a sweetie, losing her would be such a shame.
